  This site is dedicated to Hendrik Hamel, "discoverer" of Korea (AD 1653-1666). They shipwrecked at the coast of Chejudo, (Quelpaert) in 1653 were captured and managed to escape in 1666. He wrote his journal on Deshima, the Dutch enclave in Japan. This web site you includes a complete translation of this Journal and a lot of additional information as well as antique maps -- Henny Savenije (Lee Hea Kang)
