announces a conference on
"Women in Japanese Culture" February 24 - 25, 1995
at the University of Texas at Austin campus
Featured panels include: Women in Popular Culture, Women in Modern
Literature, Women in Pre-modern Literature, and Women in
Film.
Featured speakers include: Takie Lebra, Dept. of Anthropology, U of
Hawaii; Keiko MacDonald, Dept. of Film, U of Pittsburgh; Jennifer
Robertson, Dept. of Anthropology, U of Michigan; and Jay Rubin, Dept. of
Modern Literature, Harvard U.

A limited number of rooms are available at the Hyatt Regency Hotel at a
special conference rate. When registering for these rooms, please mention
the "Women in Japanese Culture" conference to receive the discound, which
is only available until February 9, 1995. The hotel's phone # is

offering a 5% discount on airfares to the conference (Amerian and Delta

Pre-registration is $25, which includes a dinner on Friday night. Please
