*****Announcing the Sasakawa Fellowship Competition*****
Fellowships will be awarded to twenty-four full-time faculty
members for participation in the National Faculty Development
Institute on"Incorporating Japanese Studies into the Undergraduate
Curriculum," sponsored by the American Association of State
Colleges and Universities.
The Institute will be held June 7 to July 8, 1995 at San Diego
State University. The Program involves four weeks of intensive
seminars, lectures, readings and workshops focused on the major
historical, political, economic, and cultural trends and
achievements of the Japanese people.
Applicants must hold faculty appointments in the humanities,
social sciences or a relevant professional field at an AASCU member
institution and teach undergraduate students. Individuals who are
not Japan specialists but are interested in expanding their
academic compententcies and infusing Japanese studies into the
courses they teach are encouraged to apply. The award supports
participation in the Japan Studies Institute and covers housing in
two-bedroom suites on the San Diego State University campus, up to
$500 for transportation, and a $675 stipend for meals and
other expenses.
